Bragging Board!

Okeydokey, everyone! I want you to take a little minute and post a little comment just to BRAG! Tell us what you are doing RIGHT! What did you get done today? And I don't mean only housework! Did you read to your kids? Help an older child with homework? Did you exercise this morning? Did you tackle a trouble spot? Did you apologize to someone when you were wrong? Tell us what you deserve a pat on the back for! Nobody be shy! I'll even start us out!

  1. I not only cleaned the fridge today, I also managed to clean the microwave, the filter on the dishwasher, sort through the junk drawer, clean behind the fridge, and clean the interior of the car. The sad thing is that I had that many trouble spots to begin with! If I'd been faithfully doing the list I posted yesterday BEFORE now, NONE of that would have needed done! Anyway, it feels GREAT to have it done!

  2. I have been fitting in a consistant healthy eating schedule and exercised everyday this week! I also read my scriptures every day except for today. And even though my house has not been perfect it could be worse, but I have been over to my Dads house helping him get his house in order. So I feel good about that :-)

  4. Me and my honey scrubbed the vinyl floor in our laundry room with a magic eraser. I have been wanting to do that since I moved in. It took about 10 erasers!

  5. I spent most of the day helping my 8 year old catch up on homework that he is behind with. I also read 8 library books to my girls. I also did some service for my neighbor and My 4 year old helped me. It was great. I don't usually get many opportunities or make many opportunities to serve others. It made it even better to be able to teach my daughter a little about serving others and she was so excited about the surprise and keeping it a secret.

  6. Well,I have been excercising everyday this week so far. I have been able to the attend the temple once a month with my mom. Getting a ton of geneaology figured out and done. Dealt fairly well with my teenage daughter and her wanting to be a grown up beafore it is time. I am also working on the Personal Progress. I challenge all to do it.

  7. My girls have glow in the dark stars on their ceiling. The other night Haylee, my four year old said, "Star light star bright I wish I may I wish I might have the wish I wish tonight. I wish for a happy family." This kind of hit me hard. I'm not sure what to think about that. I know that we have been after her a lot lately about all the clutter and trying to get her to clean it up. Her room looks like a tornado has gone through it all the time. It seems that all our time and energy is spent cleaning up messes. I know it's not totally her fault because her two year old sister goes in and pulls things off the shelves and dumps everything out. Poor Haylee. She's the one that we yell at to clean it up and get mad at because it is such a mess all the time. I am so tired of all the clutter. So I came up with a solution. I've always thought that I would like to have a big closet to store their toys in and be able to just rotate their toys, but I couldn't do it because I didn't have the space. Our house does not have any storage areas. Anyway, it is way past time to move Haylee out of the toddler bed and Allison out of her crib (her crib has been made into a toddler bed by lowering the one side), but we couldn't afford bunk beds or even a new mattress. In my spare room I had a futon couch that can be made into a double bed, so I moved that into the girls' room and took out their beds. Grandma and Grandpa can still sleep on it when they come and the girls can sleep on the couch bed. So it made space in the spare bedroom. I ended up removing most of their toys, a large bookshelf, a small bookshelf, a small dresser, a filing cabinet, and a changing table. I let the girls each choose one doll and 2 stuffed animals, some food and dishes, and 2 dress up dresses. The pet shop pets and the things they got for Easter, and they each kept a purse with a few things. All of the toys fit in a little toy box. I also moved the toy kitchen and table and chairs out of the living room into their bedroom, It has been so nice. It takes less than 3 minutes to clean up their toys. I am not constantly tripping over things and getting mad and frustrated. The kids are happier and I'm happier. I will rotate their toys. Every week they can exchange the toys that they can keep out. Also I am hoping to bring out one item or activity every day, where I sit and play with them. I can then make sure it is put away when we are done. It has been fun to watch my girls play and use their creativity. What was happening before was that all the toys were just being dumped out and scattered all over the house and they really weren't playing with them. Then we spent so much time focussed on picking up all the clutter that there wasn't any time to play, and I'm sad to admit there was a lot of yelling. Now there is definitely more fun and laughter. It has been so nice that I've decided to do the same thing with my sons room.
