Best Advice and a Challenge

Want a well-functioning family? Here is the BEST advice EVER! Watch or listen to the conference of the LDS Church. I promise that as you do, you will feel the Spirit and it will speak to your heart, the things that you should do or should change to help your family function well. Here's the challenge part. Come back here and post a comment about what you heard or what you plan to do differently in your home because of General Conference. Now go get Spiritually Fed!

  1. What I got out of confrerence is that we parents need to step it up and teach our kids and not rely on the primary teacher/school teacher etc. That we shouldn't feel entitled to spend time away from our families(yep I'm guilty of this one, though I still think we all need a break at times) and we should find ways to enjoy the often not fun parts of being a mom.

One other thing that stood out to me was that we need the gospel now more than ever and that when we feel like things aren't going the way we would like them to in our lives there is probably plenty WE can do to help the Lord to be able to bless us.

I'm sure I'll think of more, but that's my contribution for now!

  2. Jennie- thanks so much for sharing what you got out of conference. Here's what stood out to me, but I'm going to post more in a new post. Like you, I felt a bit of a call for all parents everywhere to step it up a huge notch. It almost felt like a call to repentance! Sister Beck did NOT tip-toe, and I dare say there was a very good reason for that! I loved the talk that spoke of the fishermen and the airplane and viewed it as a big, "Don't make the same STUPID mistakes over and over again! Learn from them!" Yet I DO make the same stupid mistakes over and over again and my mistakes are just about as obvious as theirs! More to come in the post I'll be sharing later today. Heya, Jen, I'm starting to feel like it's just you and I here! Anybody else reading???

  4. I got the same thing out of conference that Jennie did. The importance of parents being involoved in their childrens lives. We should not leave it up to anyone else. I know everytime I listen and or watch conference I always find those things that I need to improve on. But isn't that what Conference is for, to inspire us to improve and grow closer to our Heavenly Father?
